Dietary intake of pesticides through fruits
2023, Current Developments in Biotechnology and Bioengineering: Pesticides: Human Health, Environmental Impacts and ManagementComparative exposomics of persistent organic pollutants (PCBs, OCPs, MCCPs and SCCPs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Lake Victoria (Africa) and Three Gorges Reservoir (China)
2019, Science of the Total EnvironmentCitation Excerpt :Fresh applications would have the value of β-HCH/(α-HCH + γ-HCH) higher than 0.5. Otherwise, lower values than 0.5 indicate HCH aging (Zhang et al., 2007). Although TGR has a value of 0.41 for the above ratios, which is closer to the value of fresh applications, there is need to investigate further the source of lindane in this catchment.
Soil thresholds and a decision tool to manage food safety of crops grown in chlordecone polluted soil in the French West Indies
2017, Environmental PollutionCitation Excerpt :The Chinese thresholds for soil contamination (regulation GB 15618-1995) were defined based on agricultural quality of soils (plant growth, microbial activity, waterbodies) without taking human exposure into account. For agricultural purposes, thresholds were set at 0.5 mgkg−1 for HCH and DDT (sum of the isomers for both compounds) (Zhang et al., 2007; Zhao, 2012). In Canada, soil quality guidelines have been defined for a wide range of chemicals to protect the environment and human health (Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment, 2006; 1999).
Bioaccumulation of organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls by loaches living in rice paddy fields of Northeast China
2016, Environmental PollutionCitation Excerpt :The residue levels of ∑DDTs in paddy soils (mean: 1.50 ng g−1 dw) in this study were much lower than those in paddy soils from the Pearl River Delta (mean: 24.7 ng g−1 dw) (Li et al., 2006), surface soils from Beijing (mean: 77.18 ng g−1 dw) (Zhang et al., 2007) and agricultural soils from the Yangtze River Delta (mean: 56.2 ng g−1 dw) (Sun et al., 2016). However, The residue levels of ∑HCHs in paddy soils (mean: 1.99 ng g−1 dw) in this study were comparable to those in paddy soils from the Pearl River Delta (mean: 3.01 ng g−1 dw) (Li et al., 2006), surface soils from Beijing (mean: 1.47 ng g−1 dw) (Zhang et al., 2007) and agricultural soils from the Yangtze River Delta (mean: 2.46 ng g−1 dw) (Sun et al., 2016). Soil contamination by OCPs presented a regional variation.
Lichen, moss and soil in resolving the occurrence of semi-volatile organic compounds on the southeastern Tibetan Plateau, China
2015, Science of the Total EnvironmentCitation Excerpt :If the value of β-HCH/(α-HCH + γ-HCH) was higher than 0.5, no fresh input of HCH in the sampling region is assumed. Otherwise, fresh input of HCH occurred (Zhang et al., 2007). The ratio of β-HCH/(α-HCH + γ-HCH) in the soil of this research ranged from 0.09 to 0.48, with a mean value of 0.20, which indicated that there were fresh inputs of HCHs on the southeastern Tibetan Plateau.
Distribution and sources of organochlorine pesticides in agricultural soils from central China
2013, Ecotoxicology and Environmental SafetyCitation Excerpt :It could be concluded that this high level was possibly related to its usage in agriculture. In comparison with other regions and countries, the mean value of ΣDDTs (151.56 ng g−1) in this study was higher than those in agricultural soils in China such as Pearl River Delta region (37.6 ng g−1) (Fu et al., 2003), Taihu Lake region (50.23±28.70 ng g−1) (Wang et al., 2007), Beijing (32.13 ng g−1) (Zhang et al., 2007) and Shanghai (21.41 ng g−1) (Jiang et al., 2009). However, it was lower than those in agricultural soils from northern Jiangsu province (190.4 ng g−1) (Yang et al., 2008) and southern Jiangsu province (163.20 ng g−1) (An et al., 2004).
