Coagulation, hemostasis, and transfusion during liver transplantation
2020, Best Practice and Research: Clinical AnaesthesiologyCitation Excerpt :More portal hypertension will possibly cause more blood loss especially during the dissection phase. In addition to the known role of platelets in primary hemostasis, platelets play an important role in regulating inflammation, angiogenesis, tissue repair/regeneration, and ischemia and reperfusion injury [32–35], all of which are important factors during liver transplantation. Although many patients with end-stage liver disease are thrombocytopenic, platelet function is usually adequate due to increased levels of vWF and decreased levels of ADAMTS-13 [36].

2015, Clinics and Research in Hepatology and GastroenterologyThe roles and potential therapeutic implications of CXCL4 and its variant CXCL4L1 in the pathogenesis of chronic liver allograft dysfunction
2015, Cytokine and Growth Factor ReviewsCitation Excerpt :Roles for CXCL4 and CXCL4L1 in various liver diseases have been described previously. For example, in some studies, graft liver biopsy samples from patients with liver allograft dysfunction showed thrombotic occlusions of the microcirculation with abnormal CXCL4 expression [11,66]. However, the mechanism of CXCL4 and CXCL4L1 in the pathogenesis of chronic liver allograft dysfunction remains unknown.
