The generation of the flower by self-organisation
2023, Progress in Biophysics and Molecular BiologyCitation Excerpt :The antagonism between gene classes A and C in the flower (Krizek and Fletcher, 2005) is analogous to the antagonism between gene classes A and P in Drosophila. The expansion in the flower of A into C territory in the C gene mutant and the expansion of C into A territory in the A gene mutant (Fig. 4.8 in Coen, 1999) is analogous to the expansion in the Drosophila embryo of P into A territory in the A gene mutant (Fig. 3 in Schiffmann, 2012), and to the expansion of A into P territory in the P gene mutant (Fig. 1 in Manseau and Schupbach, 1989); in fact there is also an expansion of A and P into T territory in the terminal mutant (Fig. 1 in Manseau and Schupbach, 1989 and Fig. 1 in Duffy and Perrimon, 1994). Fig. 2e refers to 4 spatially continuous ring-shaped compartments.
Maternal-effect genes as the recording genes of Turing-Child patterns: Sequential compartmentalization in Drosophila
2012, Progress in Biophysics and Molecular BiologyCitation Excerpt :This predicts, according to the first row in Fig. 2 and the code in Fig. 2g, expansion of the abdomen posteriorly and the head anteriorly. This is what is observed (Nusslein-Volhard et al., 1987; Manseau and Schupbach, 1989; Gaul and Jackle, 1990; Duffy and Perrimon, 1994). For a mutant of the A group the code of the posterior and anterior ends becomes identical (Fig. 2g, h).
