Abstract

Although sialolithiasis of minor salivary glands is not an uncommon clinical finding, few cases have been reported in the literature. In the eleven cases reviewed here, nine were found in the buccal mucosa. A high percentage of the patients were edentulous, and most of them were past the age of 39. More than 90 per cent of the patients were Caucasians, and the majority were men. A large percentage of the patients had a history of calcifications elsewhere in the body.
