2022, Sustainable Chemistry and PharmacyCitation Excerpt :Furthermore, in contrast to other oxides semiconductor nanostructures as ZrO2, In2O3, ZnO, and SnO2, CdO is a low-cost material, non-toxic and chemically stable (Shad et al., 2019). Numerous synthetic physicochemical methods, including sol-gel, template-assisted, co-precipitation, hydrothermal, pulsed laser deposition, sonochemical, solvothermal, spray pyrolysis, reactive sputtering, and soft chemical synthesis, have been employed to prepare CdO NS (Maity and Chattopadhyay, 2006; Carballeda-Galicia et al., 2000; Santos-Cruz et al., 2005; Reddy et al., 2010; Ferro and Rodriguez Velazquez, 1999; Phatak and Lal, 1992; Gurumurugan et al., 1995; Zhao et al., 2002; Yan et al., 2001; Sathya Raj et al., 2012; Gulino et al., 2002; Yang et al., 2004; Askarinejad and Morsali, 2009; Gholam Reza et al., 2014; Bazargan et al., 2009a). However, some problems arise with these methods, such as the difficulty of large-scale application and equipment that requires vacuum conditions, which causes a high cost for the synthesis and generates polluting residues.
