On the chemical bond complexity of the H<inf>2</inf>+ in 1-D: The ground-state avoided crossing
2021, Computational and Theoretical ChemistryCitation Excerpt :Loudon stated that the 1-D hydrogen atom was twofold degenerate, having an even and an odd wave function for each eigenvalue, except for the (even) ground state having infinite binding energy. The 1-D hydrogen atom solutions have been discussed and criticized for many years [1,3,85–92]. The 1-D molecules contain similar “unusual” properties of the 1-D H atom.
