Abstract
Cowa (Garcinia cowa) is an important minor fruit crop in the southern region of Bangladesh. A fruit rot of cowa was observed in the 2016–17 growing season, characterized by sunken, water-soaked lesions. Based on morphological and, molecular characterization the fungus was identified as Diaporthe phoenicicola the cause of fruit rot of cowa. Koch’s postulates of the Bangladeshi fruit was completed.
Availability of data
ITS sequences of Diaporthe phoenicicola are available under the accession number MT158487 and MT158488.
