Abstract

The main objective of the present study is to analyze the effect of coverage factor, failure rates and repair rates on the availability and performance of a concrete mixture plant by considering profust reliability approach. Concrete mixture plant comprises seven subsystems installed in series configuration. In most of the plants, some units of subsystems named mixer and cement silo are used in redundancy. In the present model, both subsystems are configured as 2-out-of-2: G with one cold standby. Rest of the subsystems are single-unit systems. Sufficient repair facilities remain available with system to do repair activities. All failure and repair rates are exponentially distributed. Using Markov birth–death model, differential equations have been derived and solved by Runge–Kutta method of fourth order. The result of the proposed model verifies the theory and would prove beneficial for system designers.
