Abstract

An oil field formation contains minerals such as sulfate, carbonate and calcium. The water injection method is widely used to imbibe oil in the oil reservoir. In this method, the incompatibility between injection water and reservoir water creates serious problems. As the water moves inside the oil reservoir and the oil well, the solubility value of soluble mineral changes according to the environmental conditions. Change in solubility of solutes in reservoir water can precipitate mineral solids and decrease production. In this study, the formation of sulfate and carbonate sediments in water injection operation is predicted using Stimcade2 software in Nosrat Oil Field. Based on the results of this study, barium sulfate, calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate may form in the Nosrat Oil Field.
