Zusammenfassung

In der Ätiologie der Posttraumatischen Belastungsstörung (PTBS) interagieren genetische Faktoren der Gedächtnisbildung mit Umweltfaktoren wie der Anzahl erlebter Traumata. Traumatischer Stress beeinflusst sogar molekulare Prozesse des Immunsystems und der DNA und erhöht so das Risiko für sekundäre körperliche Folgeerkrankungen. Umgekehrt kann Psychotherapie diese Effekte zumindest teilweise rückgängig machen.
