Abstract

A tunable and switchable multi-wavelength actively Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser based on cascaded fiber filters and electro-optic modulator is proposed. The hybrid filter consists of an all-fiber interferometer with a polarization maintaining fiber and a Lyot filter. At the pump power of 350 mW, the laser states of single-, dual-, triple- and quadruple-wavelength can be obtained by adjusting the polarization controllers, and a stable Q-switched pulse with the repetition rate of 20 kHz is observed on the oscilloscope. Moreover, the single-, dual- and triple-wavelength laser outputs can be tuned simultaneously with a fixed wavelength interval, and the maximum tuning range is 6 nm. The switchability and the wavelength interval adjustment of the proposed laser are more flexible, which can be widely used in material processing, medical imaging and other fields.
