Common and Rare Adverse Reactions to Injectable Fillers

Abstract

Dealing with the unwanted or adverse effects of injectable fillers shows the skill of the practitioner. Common adverse effects, such as edema and hematoma, cannot be completely avoided per se but their frequency can be reduced. It is important to inform patients of potential adverse effects without frightening them and, if necessary, to be able to offer a treatment concept. Rare adverse reactions are harder to avoid because there is little evidence on the risk factors of these reactions. The treatment is also more difficult here because many interventions have not been tested for their effectiveness.
