The results of a study of pulse duration of superradiance on molecular nitrogen ions in air under different conditions of focusing a femtosecond laser pulse with a wavelength of 950 nm are presented. The active-medium parameters are analyzed and a mechanism is proposed for formation of a picosecond superradiance pulse at a femtosecond seed-pulse duration.
