Summary
The alkaline lamellar titanates (K<Subscript>2</Subscript>Ti<Subscript>4</Subscript>O<Subscript>9</Subscript> and Na<Subscript>2</Subscript>Ti<Subscript>3</Subscript>O<Subscript>7</Subscript>) obtained from solid state reactions react with acid solutions producing a partial ion exchange of the ions K<Superscript>+</Superscript> and Na<Superscript>+</Superscript> present in the interlamellar region by protons H<Superscript>+</Superscript>, producing the titanate acid forms. These materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and thermal analyses (TG/DTA).
