Abstract

In the current study, an attempt is made to report a novel, simple, and convenient method for the synthesis of Fe3O4/C nanocomposites. To the best of our knowledge, there is no report on the benefit from walnut shell as the carbon source for synthesis of Fe3O4/C nanocomposites. Besides, the efficiency of Fe3O4/C nanocomposites as the removal agent for remove diazinon was also evaluated. In addition, the effect of several parameters such as pH value, concentration of diazinon and Fe3O4/C nanocomposites, and reaction time on the removal percentage was investigated. The obtained samples were characterized extensively by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Moreover, in the presence of Fe3O4/C nanocomposites at optimum conditions, the removal percentage was about 100 %. The Fe3O4/C nanocomposites indicated a ferromagnetic behavior, as evidenced by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM).
