Welcome to the 2024 volume of the Group Decision & Negotiation journal. After the first post-COVID 19 year of 2022, 2023 saw an increased amount of in-person academic collaboration and information sharing. The GDN 2023 conference in Tokyo was a great success with many scientific progress being reported by GDN researchers from around the world. Being the first in-person conference since 2019, the organizing hosts from the University of Tokyo provided all participants with an exceptional experience. As usual, we are working with the authors to publish some of the best conference papers in the journal.
2023 was another successful year for the GDN journal. We received a total of 262 submissions which is an increase of 6% compared to the previous year. The six issues of the journal published a total of 53 papers which represents an 18% increase over the prior year. The average number of days from submission to first decision has been steadily decreasing: it dropped from 92 days in 2019 to 32 days in 2023. This is an amazing turnaround time which everyone on the editorial board should feel proud of! The journal’s h5-index improved further to 27 while the journal’s impact factor increased to 3.0 (2022). Finally, the number of full-text article downloads keeps breaking records as well: after the first three quarters of 2023 the journal recorded 144,287 downloads, already a 12% increase compared to the whole 2022 calendar year.
Together, these numbers show that the journal continues to be the prime outlet for research on group decision and negotiation. Our aim continues to be soliciting strong submissions that receive a swift decision to keep improving the journal’s metrics in 2024. We welcome proposals for special issues and submissions on innovative topics. Review papers are also encouraged that can serve as a focal point for specific GDN research areas.
1 The Editorial Board & Reviewers
The Group Decision & Negotiation journal is fortunate to have a committed editorial board and group of reviewers. They work tirelessly to assess the contributions and quality of each submission that is entered into the review process. They assist the authors through constructive criticism to ensure that each published paper makes a significant contribution to the Group Decision & Negotiation body of knowledge.
