The energy efficient method of encapsulating dispersed materials by polymer shells, which involves the chemical formation of a shell directly on the surface of particles, is considered. A mathematical model of the examined process, including principles of heat and mass transfer, kinetics of polymerization, and the modification of evaporation surface area during the encapsulation process, is proposed. The model allows the uniformity of the distribution of coating material between the encapsulated particles, the temperature of particle layer, the moisture content of coating, the degree of monomer transformation, and particle coverage to be assessed.
