Two New Sesquiterpenoid Glycosides from Rhizomes of Atractylodes lancea

Two new sesquiterpenoid glycosides, (1S,4S,5R,7R)-4,11,14-trihydroxy-guaia-9-en-3-one-11-O-β-Dglucopyranoside (1) and 1β,5α,7α-H-3β,4α,11,14-tetrahydroxyl-guaia-9-en-11-O-D-glucopyranoside (2), were isolated from the water-soluble portion of the ethanolic extract of Atractylodes lancea rhizomes. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic data and application of the CD technique. Compounds 1 and 2 were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activity by determining their inhibitory activity on lipopolysaccharide-induced nitric oxide production, but both were inactive.
