Effectiveness of various types of absorbers of hydrogen sulfide in residual fuel oil

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

The chief types of hydrogen sulfide absorbers available in the Russian market are examined. The action of hydrogen sulfide absorbers differing in chemical composition is analyzed with reference to two components of commercial residual fuel oil, namely straight-run fuel oil and visbreaking gas oil. The absorbers (absorbents) are effective in almost all cases. They are found to have an adverse effect on the content of water-soluble acids and alkalis.
