This volume, Project Management and Scheduling: From Theory to Computation, follows the 12th International Conference on Project Management and Scheduling (PMS) held in Tours (France) in 2010. This conference was a very nice and fruitful event which gathered more than 130 researchers working on scheduling theory and project management (http://www.pms2010.univ-tours.fr/pms10/). The PMS conferences are a series of conferences organized every two years by the EURO working group on Project Management and Scheduling (http://www.cs.put.poznan.pl/pms/).

After PMS 2010, there arose the idea of collecting the best papers in a single volume together with other free submissions from researchers who did not attend the conference. More than 2 years were necessary to complete the refereeing process and to create this volume. We received 30 submissions, among which 17 have been accepted for publication after a strict refereeing process. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the reviewers who have shared their expertise with us and the authors.

We also sincerely thank all those who helped in making PMS 2010, and then this volume, a success.
