Abstract

AV fistula and true or false aneurysm of the superficial temporal artery are rare complications after usually blunt trauma to the temple. They present as a pulsating tumorous lesion, occasionally with a bruit, that can be reduced after compression of the feeding vessel. Diagnosis is made by clinical examination. Corresponding to the excisional biopsy of the superficial temporal artery, the treatment of choice is resection of the affected vascular segment.
