Subjektive Erwartungen von Schwangeren an die heutige Geburtsbegleitung

Zusammenfassung

Eine individuelle patientinnenorientierte Geburtshilfe durch Ärzte und Hebammen setzt die Kenntnis der Erwartungen, Wünsche und Ängste der schwangeren Frauen voraus. Subjektive Erwartungen sind zeitabhängig und soziokulturell geprägt. Während sich noch vor etwa 50 Jahren die Erwartungen der Schwangeren vor allem auf die Gesundheit des Kindes und die eigene Unversehrtheit richteten, hat sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten das Erwartungsbild der Klinikentbindung deutlich verändert. Neben einer möglichst natürlichen und schmerzarmen Geburt erwarten viele Frauen sowohl, dass sie während der Entbindungsphasen ausreichend Informationen erhalten, als auch, dass sie in Entscheidungsprozesse während der Geburt einbezogen werden. Für die Zufriedenheit und eine positive Geburtserfahrung besonders wichtig ist die Einstellung und das Verhalten der betreuenden Hebammen und Ärzte.

Abstract

Individualized patient-oriented obstetrics is based on the knowledge of midwives and physicians with respect to the expectations, wishes, and fears of pregnant women. The patient’s personal expectations depend on the times and on sociocultural background. Fifty years ago, the expectations of pregnant women focused on their own health and that of their newborns. But during the last decades, expectations of hospital deliveries changed dramatically. In addition to as natural and pain-free a delivery as possible, many women expect extensive information during the different stages of labor. Furthermore, they want to be involved in the decision-making process during childbirth. The attitude and behavior of midwives and physicians with respect to the mother’s satisfaction and perception of a positive birth experience are particularly important.
