Abstract
O utcomes can be measured in terms of traditional indicators such as survival rate, hospitalisation rate or employment status. However, such measures are limited, according to Dr Paul Kind, senior research fellow at the Centre for Health Economics, University of York, UK. Speaking at a recent AIC conference* , Dr Kind described the development of a generic outcomes measurement tool, the EQ-5D, designed to provide a simple but effective index of health status.
