Het is niet toegestaan om patiënten in de huisartsenpraktijk te screenen op een bepaalde kwaal als daar straling bij te pas komt. Volgens de Wet op het Bevolkingsonderzoek behoeft dergelijk onderzoek goedkeuring van de minister. Die laat zich daartoe adviseren door een commissie van de Gezondheidsraad.
