The invariant amplitudes of interaction processes

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento (1955-1965)

Summary

A systematic method of producing, where possible, invariants for a scattering process such that the associated amplitudes are free from kinematical singularities is derived. It is conjectured that such amplitudes cannot be found for most processes involving an odd number of photons. The results are proved completely in perturbation theory, but a method of proof independent of perturbation theory is outlined. Invariants for the elastic scattering of pions and deuterons. and nucleon Compton scattering are derived as examples. General interaction processes are also discussed.
