Pilot survey of disabled children in and around Nagpur

Summary

A house to house survey of 20,000 houses in the urban and rural areas around Nagpur covered about 50,000 population in each area. The child population accounted for about 36,000. Of the various types of disabilities in the lower limbs, those due to poliomyelitis and rickets were the commonest. Both are preventable diseases.
