p-p Small-angle scattering at high energy

Summary

The differential cross-section dσ/dΩ in the e.m.s. for elastic p-p scattering has been measured, with the nuclear emulsion technique, for incoming protons of 27.5 GeV/c. The data refer to values of a transferred quadrimomentum 5·10-3< -t < 5·10-2 (GeV/e)2. From the analysis of the experimental data we have obtained for the ratio between the real and the imaginary parts of the nuclear scattering amplitude the value ϱ = - 0.23 ± 0.13.

è stata misurata la sezione d’urto differenziale dσ/dΩ nel s.o.m. per lo scattering elastieo p-p per protoni inoidenti di 27.5 GeV/c, nell’intervallo di quadrimomenti trasferiti 5·10-3< -t < 5·10-2 (GeV/e)2, rivelando i protoni di rinculo con la tecnica delle emulsioni nucleari. Dalle misure si ricava che il rapporto tra l’ampiezza reale e l’ampiezza immaginaria di scattering vale ϱ= - 0.23 ±0.13.
