Summary

A comparison was made between the complement fixation test using a protein fraction derived fromTreponema pallidum (Reiter strain) as an antigen and theTreponema pallidum immobilization test. As appears from the results obtained with 116 syphilitic and 137 presumably non-syphilitic sera the complement fixation test with protein antigen showed an excellent sensitivity together with a satisfactory specificity.
