Summary
A report is given on the complexometric titration of several rare earths. Three different titration procedures are given: 1. direct titration atph 8–9 in the presence of tartaric or citric acid and at boiling temperature, with eriochrome black T as indicator; 2. back-titration of an excess of complexone, atph 8–9, in the cold, with standard zinc solution in the presence of eriochrome black T; 3. back-titration of an excess of complexone, with standard zinc solution, atph 5, with ferri-ferrocyanide plus 3.3′-dimethylnaphthidine as redox indicator. The latter method permits also titration in the presence of alkaline earths. The accuracy is of the order of 0.01 to 0.02 ml of 0.01 M standard solution. The use of the titrations for the determination of mean atomic weight is discussed.
