Abstract
It was a particular pleasure to the editors ofChildren's Literature in Education that Catherine Storr accepted their invitation to contribute to our occasional series in which distinguished authors revisit a childbood favourite. Catherine Storr was a speaker at the conference which gave rise to this journal, and the paper she gave then, ‘Fear and Evil in Children's Books,’ was in our first issue in 1970.
