Change in the selectivity of the action of catalysts in the hydrogenation of the dienone group

Communication 5. Influence of modification of a Ni-Al2O3 catalyst with cadmium on the mechanism of the addition of hydrogen to 6-methyl-3, 5-heptadiene-2-one

Conclusions

  1. 1.

It was established by the method of deuteroexchange that in the process of hydrogenation of 6-methyl-3, 5-heptadiene-2-one on a Ni-Al2O3 catalyst modified with cadmium, there is an intermediate enol formation. In the presence of the unmodified catalyst, the enol is not formed.

  2. 2.

The change in the direction of hydrogénation of the dienone under the influence of modifying additive is due to a change in the mechanism of the addition of hydrogen.
