Additional information

Originally given at the 1989 Oberlin Philosophy Colloquium on Realism and Relativism, this paper has since been given at Syracuse University, the University of St. Andrews, Dalhousie University, California State University/Northridge, the University of Pittsburgh, and the University of North Carolina/Chapel Hill. On all seven occasions, I benefitted greatly from the discussions that followed. Special thanks are due to Joan McCord, David Wong, Richard Boyd, Earl Conee, Brad Hooker, and Walter Sinnott-Armstrong.
