Artificial intelligence has received significant international attention in both academia and industry in recent years. In particular, vision-oriented intelligent information processing, such as visual detection, big data processing, and perception, has been the most popular theme in artificial intelligence. Presently, numerous novel topics/tasks regarding artificial intelligence and computer vision are being proposed and may not be covered in the scope of current journals; therefore, a journal that includes all popular topics in visual intelligence within its scope is needed.
The goal of the journal Visual Intelligence is to provide a professional platform for researchers, educators, software developers, and graduate and undergraduate students in the computer-vision and artificial-intelligence communities to share their latest achievements and communicate with peers. This journal is sponsored by the China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG) and is one of the quick-start new journal projects in the Excellence Action Plan of China Science and Technology Journals. This journal aims to reflect the state-of-the-art achievements in the fields of artificial intelligence and computer vision. Visual Intelligence has a special focus on research areas that associate visual information processing with intelligence, promote their integration, and that are undergoing exciting new developments.
The suggested topics in Visual Intelligence include but are not limited to
-
(1)
computer vision;
-
(2)
machine learning;
-
(3)
artificial intelligence.
A more detailed topic list is as follows: visual perception; computational imaging; visual recognition; visual interpretation; visual big data processing; image/video analysis and recognition; visual search; image/video generation; video big data mining; large-scale visual computing; visual detection and measurement; image detection for classification; image measurement for object pose estimation; statistical model; graphical model; semantic model; perceptual optimized methods; image/video segmentation; image/video compression; restoration and enhancement; multimedia communication; image manipulation; computer graphics; image rendering; geometric topology; mesh geometry models; 3D imaging; virtual/augmented reality; machine learning; and reinforcement learning.
We welcome various content from all over the world, including research articles, review articles, and perspective articles exploring the aforementioned topics. The editorial board is made up of a strong collection of experienced and highly qualified professionals from more than ten nations/regions, including China, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Singapore, and Australia. They will check the suitability of manuscripts within their field of expertise, guide these manuscripts through the peer review process, and provide final decision recommendations based on the peer reviewers’ reports and their own assessment. The purpose of the journal’s peer review process is to ensure that publication decisions are agreed upon among the reviewers, Associate Editors, Associate Editors-in-Chief, and the Editor-in-Chief and that papers are published in this journal after a fair, constructive, and rigorous review. In addition, this journal is a fully Open Access journal. For authors, Open Access publication will increase the dissemination of their articles and serve as a springboard for further discovery.
We would like to express our gratitude to all members of the editorial board for their consecutive efforts in the whole review process, as well as to the authors for their contributions to the journal and to the referees for kindly sharing their precious time and expertise with the visual intelligence community. We hope that the topical, interesting, and thought-provoking articles in this journal will be appreciated by our readers, and we are looking forward to your contributions.
We would like to specially thank the CSIG, a national academic organization that aims to coordinate scientists and engineers in fields related to image and graphics to encourage research, development, and application. With the support of the CSIG, Visual Intelligence will provide a solid basis for introducing state-of-the-art publications to the artificial intelligence and computer vision domains, encouraging more efficient communication in the community, and facilitating international cooperation.
We are convinced that, with everyone’s efforts, Visual Intelligence will become a thriving and professional platform bringing together academics from different disciplines to share the knowledge, information and practical experience gained through their research.
