We would like to inform once again about the change in the publication language of the journal WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK in 2015. This forthcoming adjustment was decided during the 2013 and 2014 editorial board meetings and communicated via editorial notes, emails to the subscribers, and via the journal’s homepage.

The original journal WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK (now volume 56) has been translated into English since 2009 and is published online as Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE). This step was part of a strategy to extend the community’s reach to an international audience. In addition to the two versions of the academic journal, the journal Wirtschaftsinformatik & Management (WuM) was initiated to better address practitioners.

The English BISE is now well established internationally. By implementing a new structure for the editorial board with more international members we have continued our effort to reach out to international readers. The next step will be to publish the English version of the journal in print, starting 2015. The German version will then be discontinued which is also in the interest of many authors who face substantial extra work when translating their manuscripts. Springer has recently acquired the journal HMD – Praxis der Wirtschaftsinformatik and is thus offering two alternative journals in German language (WuM and HMD). Therefore, readers can now choose between three journals which are complementary to one another. Those of you who have currently subscribed to the print version of WIRTSCHAFTSINFORMATIK will from 2015 on receive the print version of Business & Information Systems Engineering.
