Abstract

The paper describes a flow control and synchronization protocol for interactive cooperative browsing in stored continuous data, such as audio and video. The protocol is targeted at controlling the playback of digitally stored continuous data flows which are delivered by one or more servers and consumed on one or more client workstations with or without synchronization. It allows for continuous streaming and single-step browsing in audio/video data for individual and cooperating users as needed, for example, for producing TV news broadcasts.
