Abstract
In this paper, an alternative simple approach to study the transient behaviour of M/M/l/N queue is introduced. The results obtained allow for an arbitrary number of initial customers in the system. It is also shown that the measures of effectiveness such as the first and second order moments of the queue length can be easily obtained in an elegant closed form.
