Anna Freud werd in december 1895 geboren en overleed in oktober 1982. Haar geboorte viel ongeveer samen met de publikatie van Studies on Hysteria van Freud en Breuer, het moment dat door velen beschouwd wordt als de aanvang van de psychoanalyse.
