Summary
In this paper a new test of significance, called the test, in which the median is used, is given. It is shown that this test is quite independent of the, to us unknown, frequency-distributions in the populations from which our samples are drawn. The application of this test is quite simple. Hence the test appears to be far better than those in use at present and which are based on some assumed frequency-distribution, generally normal distribution. The test is applied to some illustrative examples and the results compared with those obtained after the application of the existing tests.
