Summary
A case of internal and external laryngocele with acute airway obstruction is reported for its uncommon presentation. Review of literature did not show any reports on the damage to the vocal cords produced by the laryngocele and in our case the hoarseness did not disappear even after complete surgical excision of the sack. This was due to the damage produced to the external laryngeal muscles and cords by continuous pressure by the sac with super added infection leading to crico-arytenoid arthritis.
