Abstract
Classically, endolymphatic sac is approached through a complete cortical mastoidectomy. A new technique has been developed and is reported here where neither the lateral nor the posterior semicircular canal needs to be exposed. No mastoidectomy is done. The whole procedure can be carried out through a cyclindrical tunnel of about 1 cm. in diameter, drilled medially from the mastoid cortex, posterior and inferior to the McEwen’s triangle. The sac is encountered about 0 to 5 mm. infront of the signoid sinus plate and inferior to a line passing through the middle of the posterior wall of the bony external auditory canal parallel to the zygoma.
