Summary
Electron micrographs of surface replicas of Upper Witwatersrand quartzites neighbouring «carbon»-bearing conglomerate horizons have furnished three types of cell-like structures indicative of a biological origin (Plates 14–16). These findings tend to substantiate biogeochemical and micropaleontological evidence of a flourishing ancient life during Witwatersrand times (> 2.15×109 years minimum age).
