Abstract

Cetacean remains from two different stratigraphic units exposed in Falcon State, northwestern Venezuela, are described. The first record is derived from the Lower Miocene Cantaure Formation and the second from the Lower Pliocene Punta Gavilán Formation, The two specimens are identified as an indeterminate species of a platanistoid Squalodelphinidae, and an indeterminate cetothere or balaenopterid, respectively.
