Summary
1. The vascular response to cold in the finger tip has been determined in seven subjects at varying intervals after peripheral nerve section.
2. A close correlation has been found between the degree of sensory return and the improvement in the cold vasodilatation.
3. No improvement in cold response was found in the two cases in whom there was no return of sensation.
4. These findings are compatible with the view that the improvement in the cold vasodilatation depends upon the regeneration of local axon reflex pathways.
