Abstract
In order to produce high quality UPt3, a crystal growth facility has been constructed which includes an ultra high vacuum (UHV) electron beam zone refiner and an UHV electron beam annealing furnace. We have produced high quality single crystals having rocking curve widths near the theoretical minimum value. The annealed crystals clearly have two superconducting transitions as observed by specific heat measurements. Our crystals have been characterized by x-ray rocking curve, residual resistivity ratio (RRR) and specific heat measurements. These characterization results will be presented.
