Literature survey onin situ testing of concrete bridges

Abstract

In situ testing of bridges demands considerable expertise and entails heavy expenditure. The objectives of the tests may vary from being merely routine tests to diagnostic tests in order to locate the source of distress in the structure. An attempt is made in this paper to discuss briefly the objectives of the tests and the instrumentation usually employed. Salient features of the tests on concrete bridge superstructures reported in the last decade are summarised. Discussion on the evaluation criteria and recommendations for further work are also included.
