Miguel A. Altieri is Associate Professor of Agroecology at the College of Natural Resources, University of California, Berkeley. He is also scientific advisor of theConsortio Lantinoamericano sobre agroecologia y Desarrollo (Clades), a working plan of NGOs promoting agroecological strategies among peasant farmers. in the region. In addition he is the general coordinator of UNDP's Sustainable Agriculture Network and Extension program (SANE), which encourages capacity building on sustainable agriculture in developing countries through collaborative research and information exchange.
