Summary
E. coli strains of known serum resistance were tested against human serum observing the growth manometrically and microscopically as well as by inoculation. No qualitative but only quantitative differences between serum resistant and sensitive strains could be demonstrated. The bactericidal activity of serum was not reinforced by adding immune antibodies, and not inhibited by homogenates of kidney tissue.
