Abstract
A case is presented of splenic infarction in an incarcerated Bochdalek hernia causing acute thoracoabdominal symptoms. Clinically, the diagnosis was obscure until a combination of computed tomography and radionuclide scanning demonstrated the spleen was present in the hernia but not perfused. Splenic infarction in a Bochdalek hernia has not been reported previously in the English literature.
