Interaction of dislocation loop with free surface

Abstract

The stress due to a circular dislocation loop with Burgers vector normal to the plane of the loop in half-space is calculated. The forces by which the surface attracts the dislocation loop are calculated and finally the possible applicability of the given solution to foils is discussed.
