Summary
A family with two cases ofGlanzmann's thrombasthenia is described. The platelets of these patients are deficient in glutathion reductase which is in contrast to other types of thrombasthenia. In one of these cases, a normal pregnancy without hemorrhagic complications was observed. Due to circulatory distress of the fetus, delivery had to be performed by caesarean section. Massive substitution therapy with fresh platelet concentrates was maintained for 48 hrs. No hemorrhagic complications could be observed during the postoperative period.
